bullishCan You Hear Us Now? Raymond James Upgrades Sprint

Sprint has been upgraded to "Outperform" at Raymond James, which also gave the telecom giant a $7.50 price target vs. Tuesday's $5.31 close.

TWX up to very close to deal price; T up slightly; FOX up, as market anticipates a bidding war; CMCSA up slightly, as it is very undervalued. I say slightly because CMCSA is likely to bid more for FOX than the market would like. CMCSA is a controlled company and has fewer constraints on its CEO than others do -- and I think he will be very aggressive. DIS lower, as market assesses risk for it of competing against an aggressive CMCSA. 4. Stock Prices If I am Wrong: TWX down a few dollars, largely due to unwind of arbitrage positions. It would be very attractive as a standalone in the $88-$90 area. T down slightly -- same reason. T has significant yield protection. FOX Flat to down a bit. I think one way or another, DIS may give FOX shareholders a bit of a bone if it prevails. CMCSA up, as I suspect it will be an aggressive purchaser of its own stock. Also, "Jurassic World" opens this weekend. DIS up a little, as the market breathes a sigh of relief that it avoids a bidding war. 5. Unanticipated Winners If the Deal Goes Through: The investment banking stocks -- Goldman Sachs (GS) should be especially strong. Disney and Goldman Sachs are on my Best Ideas List (short) and Comcast is on the Best List (long). Sarge will be filling in today on the diary. See you tomorrow, folks.

A strategic shift by Verizon towards telecom investments -- and away from online advertising -- could affect a lot of companies.

While the chip giant's latest PC CPU launches improve its competitive position some, AMD and Qualcomm aren't standing still either.
