'Tis the Season to Go Shopping
The Christmas season has kicked into high gear this week with parties, dinners and, of course, shopping. I have walked several malls, as I have done the last several years, in order to gauge the tone and quality of the shopping season and identify those companies that are capturing a greater dollar share. While this may not be the most scientific method, I focus more on bags that contain purchases and register lines than I do on bodies in and around the mall.
I've made several trips at various times of the day and night to several malls in the greater Washington, D.C. area. Included in these malls is the 11th largest in the U.S. -- Tysons Corner Center in McLean, VA, which has 300 stores across 2.2 million square feet and is the largest in the Baltimore-Washington area. Aside from boasting the first Nordstrom (JWN) outside of the West Coast, the first L.L.
