Jobs Report Basically a Wash
Today's job report was surprisingly strong on the headline. But the reviews are mixed once you look beneath the hood.
The quick facts: The Establishment Survey was up 146,000, which was well above economist estimates of 85,000. Unfortunately, revisions were lower for October and September, totaling -39,000. So, essentially, we have as many total jobs as we thought, we just gained more in November than we expected. However, we didn't gain as many in prior months.
