LED Makers Are Flashing Buy Signals

Since we have three weeks to go until Christmas, holiday shopping will approach fever-pitch levels, recipes will be clipped -- good for McCormick (MKC), one of my favorite companies -- and trees will be bought and strung with ornaments and lights. Lights will also be strung on the outside of houses, commercial real estate and other buildings. 

While I tend to get caught up on the transition in lighting to light-emitting diodes (LEDs), decorative lighting is also being affected. Shopping for Christmas lights, be they tree lights or decorative lights, at Target (TGT) and Wal-Mart (WMT) -- both were stocked, by the way -- showed that there's a plethora of LEDs from General Electric (GE) and Koninklijke Philips (PHG).
