Of Monsters and Men
And the beat goes on. This market seems to consist of monsters and men with quick sudden moves that can be scary and large. They spring from under the bed or out of the closet. They prey on the frailty of men who hold tight stops and fear losing gains all too quickly.
I look at a name like Supervalue (SVU) where it seems someone was in a hurry to dump about 450,000 shares this morning and push the price down to the $2.40 support level only to see it bounce right back up throughout the day. This monster move lower probably scared some folks into selling and took out stops along the way. That can be very frustrating. I took a small speculative jump into shares yesterday and was even shaking my head this morning. Fortunately, I took a small position with much wider stops than normal, so I can watch the stock test support without panic.
