Walking the Stores for Holiday Tips

It's just about that time of year -- holiday shopping time. It will kick off big time later this week with Black Friday and in just over a week Cyber Monday. But we are already seeing big deals both online and in the stores. Amazon.com (AMZN), a key beneficiary of show rooming at stores such as Best Buy (BBY) and Barnes & Noble (BKS), is already listing Black Fridays on a variety of merchandise. After logging into the site over the weekend, I saw deals on Logitech (LOGI) accessories, voice interface software from Nuance Communications (NUAN) and others as well as upcoming deals on a variety of DVDs, CDs and other home electronics.

While doing my regular weekend reading, I noticed that Investor's Business Daily jumped on the United Parcel Service (UPS) and FedEx (FDX) bandwagon as a play on the continued increase in online holiday shopping. Not only did I recommend that well ahead of IBD, but RealMoney Pro subscribers that like to trade as well as invest should be looking at shares of Visa (V), MasterCard (MA) and American Express (AXP) and here's why -- if people are going to order more online, they have to pay for those gifts, baubles and other merchandise. That means looking at option plays for some of these companies in order to maximize your short-term returns.
