Hospice Provider Is Ailing
Chemed (CHE) is a weird combination of old-line sewer servicer Roto-Rooter and a health care division called VITAS, which mainly provides hospice care for terminally ill patients. VITAS accounts for about 74% of combined revenues and is America's largest hospice company having doubled its patients to about 1.1 million over the past decade.
Chemed had shown outstanding long-term results with per share sales and earnings expected to come in at $64.00 and $4.71 for 2011 (based on Zacks Investment Research estimates) vs. $24.26 and $0.63 (split adjusted) from 10 years earlier.
