McDonald's (MCD) turned into an investor's dream stock after it bottomed more than nine years ago. Fallout over mad cow disease and two consecutive negative year-over-year comparisons (in 2001 and 2002) knocked the stock from $50 in 1999 to $12.10 in 2003.
Each subsequent year saw improved earnings per share, and the stock outperformed more than 99% of the 1,700 companies in Value Line's main research universe.
