Food Sector Serving Two Bellwether Earnings Calls

While third-quarter 2012 earnings season officially kicks off after today's market close, the two earnings reports that I'm waiting for this week are from Yum! Brands (YUM) and Safeway (SWY). While that seems at odds -- eating out vs. eating in -- I'm most interested in the managements' discussion about their respective businesses and the markets in which they compete.

Yes, many people will be concerned about whether those companies meet or beat their quarterly expectations and maintain, cut or raise their forward guidance.
