A Year Without a Santa Jobs

It isn't the white beard or red suit or the jolly "Ho ho ho" that defines Santa Claus. It is bringing joy to boys and girls of any age. Isn't that what Steve Jobs did? Later in life he had anything but rosy cheeks and a round little belly, but he was admired and loved by many all the same. He built a company, but he leaves behind an entire community. Rooms would swell with anticipation waiting for him to speak, then become silent so as not to miss anything. He was a person who not only drove amazing advancements in technology, but also defined a current generation. He will not be forgotten, but the hard realities of life remind us that he is gone -- so what now?

My immediate reaction was that "buying any dip" would be as the acronym denotes -- BAD. But I don't think the risk is to this quarter or next, or even the one after that. The risk is further down the road. The risk is when Apple (AAPL) has completed all the products and ideas that Steve Jobs touched and influenced. Think of it this way, if Santa left the North Pole in October, then Fred Claus or Hermey the dentist could step in and fill the void through the holiday season. The elves still know how to make the toys and Fred or Hermey can run the shop. However, will it still have the same magic, or will it become more mechanical?
