Don't Shortchange Gold
It's often been said that, if you get the dollar right, you can get a lot of things right. Due to the interconnected nature of our markets, you can anticipate moves in equities, bonds and commodities, as well as other currencies, by keeping a close eye on the dollar index.
Last month I wrote about the dollar's break beneath its 200-day moving average. At the time, I advised against chasing the short, and instead recommended that traders sell rallies in the dollar index. The greenback was close to support and due for an oversold bounce.
