Health Care Is Hearty

Anyone who paid any attention to the news last week knows the employment picture was weak. The New York Times on Sept. 3, 2011, published an editorial with the title, "The Jobs Crisis," which noted that the employment report just released was "bleak on all counts."

Actually, The New York Times misspoke, as did every other writer and commentator who painted a picture of a universally lousy jobs picture. As with most things, the truth was neither black nor white but more nuanced. Some sectors of the economy are doing quite well, and that includes not just their profitability -- and a number of talking heads have noted that corporate profits are pretty good even if hiring is not -- but their ability and willingness to create jobs....569 more words left in this article.
