Bernanke Can't Do FedSpeak
Perhaps it's a function of his humble upbringing in a close-knit small town or his goal since day one assuming the head role at the Fed to make the institution more transparent, but Ben Bernanke is not good at FedSpeak.
Alan Greenspan was arguably the inventor (as he boldly proclaimed in the latest edition of Bloomberg BusinessWeek) of the gibberish, aka FedSpeak, which were a series of comments that truly meant nothing but sure sounded as if they were highly intellectual and useful to investors. The market initially sold the Bernanke Jackson Hole speech news, but after going through the comments I think Ben tipped his hand to the market.
