There is an old adage that the three most important words in real estate are "location, location, location." To some extent that is very true for housing, as every market is local. While activity seems to be cooling in places such as Miami and New York City as foreign buying slumps, most of the rest of the country's housing markets remains strong.

Housing numbers have been inconsistent in recent months. July housing start numbers disappointed when they came out two weeks ago. However, a good portion of the miss was due to the drop in multi-family housing. Single-family housing seems to have more of a supply problem than a demand problem.
