Last October, Apple (AAPL) introduced its iPhone 4S model, thereby shifting its rollout date from several months earlier in the year. With Apple widely expected to make several product announcements on Sept. 12, several other smartphone manufacturers are looking to edge out Apple. Will the strategy work? Hard to say.
