Tracking a Trio of Earnings Plays

Although the heart of earning's season is behind us, it doesn't mean there won't be some interesting and volatile names reporting. One name that is sure to see a lot of action -- even though it only has a market cap a bit over $700 million -- is ExOne Company (XONE). The 3-D printing sector is near the top of the list for momentum traders as it holds a lot of potential. The big question is whether this potential will become a reality.

First, based on the fundamentals, ExOne is certainly priced for perfection. Surprisingly, XONE doesn't have options, so this makes it a no-go for me into earnings. The stock looks like it could see $65 or $85. With a 30% short interest and no ability for the shorts to adequately hedge their positions, it should make it a name worth trading after earnings. A squeeze could very easily develop, moving this one 15% or 20% over the next few days. A disappointment could find shorts piling on and pushing their position.
