The Eerie Resemblance Between Now and 1987

It is mid-August. The market has been going up steadily, making all-time highs day after day. The fear levels are extremely low. Daily trading ranges are unusually small. 2017? Yes, but also 1987!

The two charts below show the uncanny resemblance between the two time periods. The parallelism of the daily entries is eerily similar, almost to the day, from exactly 30 years ago. The actual high was made on Aug. 25 and led to the immense decline that culminated in October.
