An End-of-Day Test
One negative that the bears have focused on lately is the tendency of the market to close weak. There's been late selling seven of the last eight trading days. The market still managed some decent gains, but the conventional wisdom is that strong markets should close strong.
The close today will be a good test as the market has bounced nicely off the opening lows, but the intraday action again doesn't have much sizzle.
