Pumped Up About Abiomed Collar Play

Abiomed Inc. (ABMD) provides medical devices that support the circulatory system. The company offers the Impella 2.5, Impella CP and Impella 5.0 heart pumps used to treat heart attack patients in cardiogenic shock. These pumps have the unique ability to enable native heart recovery, allowing more patients to return home with their own heart. Abiomed's products are designed to enable the heart to rest by improving blood flow and/or performing the pumping of the heart.

Last week, Abiomed delivered another strong quarter, reporting revenue of $132.5 million, which surpassed expectations of $129.7 million. Management's full-year revenue guidance was set in the range of $560 million to 575 million, which would represent strong year-over-year growth in the area of 26% to 29%. This company might not be compelling for value investors.
