Off the Charts

U.S. markets were mixed day Tuesday as the S&P finished down 0.19% while the Dow finished up 0.14% thanks to a strong earnings report and 3% gain in component United Technologies (UTX). The Nasdaq slid 0.59% as weakness in Apple (AAPL) weighed on the index ahead of its earnings report.    

The action continues to be slow as we are in the middle of summer. After the gap up this morning there was immediate selling in the S&P today, but the pressure subsided and the day turned out to be a non-event.
