Between the debt crisis in Greece, the debt-ceiling debate in Congress, and what appears to be a horrendous terrorist attack today in Norway, this has been a wild week for headlines. It's a testament to the resilience -- or perhaps single-mindedness -- of the financial markets, however, that earnings have dictated the trading this week.
General Electric (GE) posted consensus-beating quarterly earnings this morning, and Apple (AAPL) put up banner numbers earlier in the week. Other earnings winners were McDonald's (MCD), Morgan Stanley (MS) and Verizon (VZ), even though the telecom's earnings didn't translate to a bump in share price.
