An Increasingly Divided Economy

The U.S. and Europe are probably now in recession, although the National Bureau of Economic Research won't date a recession for the U.S. for probably another six to 12 months. Other more prominent economists and pundits have arrived at this same conclusion recently, and since they are writing about it and since we've discussed the probability, I want to focus on some disturbing trends that are becoming increasingly evident in the U.S. economy and financial markets.

Recessions obviously do not affect all segments of society in the same way; they are always harder on the less financially capable.
