Intermediate Trade: VIX

The rally is holding up after the raft of unsettling news from North Korea last week. Like most VIX spikes lately this one was not able stick. The bounce in tech has not been kind to VIX either. Sitting at the beginning of the week we are not seeing any weekend effect in cash VIX. It appears we have a good shot at a mid-10 VIX by Friday.

There is still health future premium in the VIX July 19 futures trading for $12.10 with a VIX hovering around 11. A $0.50 drop in that future is not out of the question by Friday, especially if VIX gets back in the mid-10s with expiration next Wednesday morning. The VIX July 19, 12 put looks like a decent buy for $0.60 or better and if VIX settles right here it would be worth close to $1.00....60 more words left in this article.
