Blow the whistle -- it's halftime! June ended with a bang and fireworks, even before our Independence Day celebrations, though I suspect we'll see more tricks than treats in the next six months. Let's see what is in store for the back half of the year.
In the first half, bonds were clearly the big winner, with yields plunging on a "risk off" trade. The uncertainties over Greece and other European countries exerted pressure on global growth, and -- considering the amount of stimulus provided by the Federal Reserve -- the U.S. gross domestic product growth was low in the first quarter, at 2%.
