So much for a summer slowdown -- June has turned out to be a rather active month on the product development front in the ETF industry, with several issuers launching new and innovative funds. While the majority of new products continue to be extremely specialized, we continue to see some interesting ideas that could have appeal to both tactical and buy-and-hold investors. Below are my picks for some of the most intriguing ETFs to hit the market in recent weeks, as well as a review of the investment thesis behind each.

SPDR Crossover Bond ETF (XOVR): The idea behind this ETF is simple, yet actually quite compelling. Whereas most existing corporate-bond ETFs focus either on high-quality debt or so-called "junk" bonds, XOVR offers exposure to a little of each.
