Time to Grade the Tech Leaders
Long ago, when dinosaurs roamed the earth and stocks traded in fractions, traders paid considerable attention to the Four Horsemen of the Nasdaq. Microsoft (MSFT), Intel (INTC), Cisco Systems (CSCO) and Dell (DELL) were bellwethers and the consensus was that where these generals would lead, the soldiers -- the rest of the tech sector -- would follow.
Now that those four companies have matured, Amazon.com (AMZN), Apple (AAPL) and Google (GOOG) have saddled up. We once counted Research In Motion (RIMM) among their number, but RIMM has dismounted, rather forcefully, due to Apple's dominance.
