DOE Weighs in on LNG
Investors have long been waiting for a report commissioned by the Energy Department that would set basic parameters for defining what constitutes the national interest regarding liquid natural gas exports.
This report from an outside consultant would help DOE determine whether exports to countries that have no free trade agreements with the U.S. would be consistent with the national interest. Partly in response to Congressional critics of LNG exports, DOE has said that no further export certificates for will be approved until the consultants' study is complete.
