Can Hershey's Run Continue?
Chocolate and confection maker Hershey (HSY) is holding an analyst meeting today in New York. HSY shares have been a strong performer year to date -- up 12% before dividends -- and have outperformed the S&P 500 since I first recommended the shares here last October.
I chalk that out performance up to a several factors, including the inelastic nature of Hershey's products. Chocolate in particular is a guilty pleasure that in my view consumers will buy no matter what the economy is doing.
