Treacherous Conditions

OK, I see the market working here: A bearish session Monday, a sort of bullish session Tuesday and another bearish session Wednesday -- such a skittish, hesitant and uncertain market -- a market that can't make up its mind about whether it wants to head higher or lower.

This week's choppy pattern could hold or not, but pre-market futures pointed toward a slightly higher open early Thursday. No one would be surprised to see another day of gains for the market, but then again, no one would be surprised by another bearish session either. There have been two of them already this week.
