Taking a Byte Into Teradata

In February, we identified Teradata (TDC) as a stock of interest. At the time, we were hoping to get greater business clarity or a pullback in the stock price before starting a position in the name. The company subsequently gave a lower-than-expected outlook on its first-quarter earnings call, and the stock had a substantial selloff. We initially suggested letting the dust settle before buying into the weakness, since it has been a complicated situation, and we were trying to get our arms around the disappointment and the company's prospects.
