After Potash (POT) reported first-quarter earnings of $0.56 per share against a $0.63 estimate Thursday, shares of this company -- among the world's largest fertilizer names -- dropped 3.3%. The shares closed at $42.93, near the low end of the stock's 52-week range, $38.42 to $62.60.
Company guidance for 2012 is now $3.20 to $3.60. That would still make this year the second- or third-best in Potash's history. 2008's commodity boom pushed the company's EPS to $3.67, and the shares peaked at an all-time high of $80.50.
