Case in point: The cult following of the film The Hunger Games has allowed Carmike Cinemas (CKEC), operating 237 theaters and 2,254 screens in 35 states, to dramatically boost 2012 revenue and profit estimates.
The Hunger Games has grossed more than $250 million since its March 23 release, and it seems likely to wind up among the best draws for any movie in recent years.
