Over the past two years, we have owned and recommended Schlumberger (SLB) as a core energy holding (see here for our most recent mention). The company is the largest and premier global energy-services contractor that supplies equipment, technology and services to oil-and-gas exploration companies to drill and develop major oil projects. It has done very well, and we continue to like the stock at current levels.

For a little more daring investor, someone who wants a bit more exposure to a recovery on the North American oil and natural gas drilling scene, we also recently recommended Halliburton (HAL) and BakerHughes (BHI).
