After spending the past year swinging wildly from positive to negative and ending 2011 little changed, this market has had an amazing first quarter in 2012. Stocks enjoyed their biggest Q1 gains in 14 years and European stocks, despite the seemingly endless sovereign debt nightmare, had their best year since 2006.
Despite a few skittish days, we are still clearly in an uptrend. Whenever there are substantial profits there is bound to be some profit taking. It's not time to panic, but it's never a bad idea to have shorting opportunities in your back pocket, just in case this market pulls back in a more meaningful way.
