On the Cusp of a Huge Move in Mobile

At this year's Consumer Electronics Show several weeks ago, we didn't see any real major new products or earth-shaking announcements at the show. Companies announced bigger televisions and what I would call some incremental technological advancements, but there was nothing comparable the first or even second Apple (AAPL) iPhone or iPad. 

I don't expect much different next week at the 2013 Mobile World Congress (MWC). However, I do suspect we'll be reminded that mobile is moving past just basic and featured mobiles, smartphones and tablets, and into healthcare, remote monitoring and other verticals. That's not to say we won't see new products or a mountain of press releases from the usual suspects, such as Samsung, Nokia (NOK), Google's (GOOG) Motorola, Sony (SNE), HTC and some upstarts in the form of Huawei and ZTE, among others.
