Considering Some Earnings Plays
It won't be long before we see Chicken Little on CNBC talking about the equity markets' world coming to an end. Heck, we'll probably see dozens. That wasn't the intention of my post earlier. There are just times when you see something on a chart that gives you a short-term uneasy feeling. If we rally, I'll miss part, but I'm not calling doom and gloom here, rather trying to stay nimble.
I do have an interest in some earnings names today. I'll be very curious to see the report from Newmont Mining (NEM). This is one of the top miners in the gold sector by market cap. Can its report change the extreme bearish sentiment? The option action is favoring the upside, and while I considered a March $41-$42.5 call spread for $0.60, I have decided to sit this one out and just watch closely.
