LPL Financial (LPLA) is the name for what many might have known previously as Linsco/Private Ledger. The company is now America's largest provider of independent financial advisors, with 12,857 FAs as of year-end 2011, as well as back-office support for an additional 670 advisors based in banks and credit unions. LPL Financial also clears trades, provides back office and technical support for about 4,000 non-LPL financial professionals.
