Off the Charts
The S&P (SPY) hit a new high of 1524 early in today's session, but faded off highs and ultimately finished marginally positive only thanks to a last-gasp surge into the close. The Nasdaq closed the day up 0.33%, although it remains the weakest major index overall. The Dow finished the day down 0.26% as Deere's (DE) weakness from earnings weighed on the index along with continued weakness from Coca-Cola (KO) following its earnings.
There was a positive tone in the futures this morning following President Obama's State of the Union address last night but a lack of momentum during the session.
