On the Road in the Digital Age

At the zenith of the 2014 Consumer Electronics Show last week, I touched on the "wearables" opportunity and what it means for companies like Qualcomm (QCOM), Broadcom (BRCM), Skyworks Solutions (SWKS) and CSR plc (CSRE).

The other big driver (pun intended) of new products coming out of 2013 CES was The Connected Car. In the past I've talked about how Apple (AAPL) is looking to expand its footprint into the automotive market. At CES this year, Google (GOOG) announced its efforts to bring its Android operating systems to the dashboard with the Open Automotive Alliance (OAA). This mimics Google's smartphone efforts with the Open Mobile Alliance it spearheaded a few years ago.
